We ran into a British couple (several times as we were heading in the same direction) on their third canal trip: Canal de Midi, England canals and French canals. They were on an electric-diesel engine boat which was causing them all kinds of grief! Instead of the batteries charging during running time they became depleted! Which meant every night they needed to be plugged in to electricity! Either very poorly designed or they forgot to flip a switch.
We met up with a group of youngsters (30 - 40 yrs) from Hawaii on a boat similar to ours who followed us through several locks. They said they just wanted to try something different. Of course they're used to this hot weather. They seemed to be having a great time but the driver had a problem keeping it straight. We think he was dancing while driving!
Even found a boat named Rowan driven by a fellow from Wales Who named it after his Grand daughter Rowan.
Every town has a church.
Every town has a boulangerie.
Every town has an open market - usually held yesterday or the day after we arrive!!
